Stop losing margin on London congestion charges
Build Concierge adds the congestion charge to every qualifying London job the moment it's booked, priced and tax-coded, ready for invoicing.
At a glance
When a new job is booked at a site inside your congestion charge postcodes, Build Concierge adds the charge to the job straight away, at your price and with the correct tax code. The cost is recorded from the start, so it reaches the customer's invoice without anyone having to remember it.
A small cost that's easy to lose
An engineer attends a central London job. The work gets done and the congestion charge is paid. But the charge your customer agreed to cover never makes it onto their invoice.
It's a small omission with a direct cost: your business absorbs a charge it should have recovered. Repeat that across a busy team and those missed charges soon add up, especially since the daily charge rose to £18 in January 2026 and electric vehicles are no longer exempt.
Build Concierge closes the gap at the start of the job, not the end.
How congestion charge capture works
The moment a new job is created in your job management system, Build Concierge gets to work.
- It reads the job. The job reference is used to retrieve the full record, including the site postcode and job type.
- It checks the postcode. The site postcode is compared with your list of congestion charge postcodes, using strict matching. SW1 is a match. SW10 is not.
- It adds the charge. Qualifying jobs receive a dated, chargeable cost line at your price, with the right tax code and the right pricing treatment for the job type, including call-outs and out-of-hours work.
If the site is outside your congestion charge postcodes, or the job falls outside the zone's charging hours, the job carries on unchanged.
Your team sees what needs attention
Every stage of the workflow is monitored. If a step can't complete, your team receives an email naming the step and the reason, whether that's a job that can't be found, a postcode that can't be checked or a cost line that can't be saved.
So instead of checking every new booking by hand, your team only steps in on the exceptions.
Less admin, better cost recovery
The charge becomes part of the job from the moment it's booked, rather than something to reconstruct after the visit.
- Margin protected: charges your business pays reach the customer's invoice.
- Time back for coordinators: no more routine postcode checks or manual cost entries.
- Cleaner handover to finance: jobs arrive with the charge already recorded, so there are fewer gaps to chase before invoicing.
- Consistency: the same rules apply whoever books the work, however busy the day.
Works with the system you already use
Build Concierge reads each job from your job management system and writes the cost line back into it. Your team keeps booking work exactly as they do today, with nothing new to learn. No replatforming, no disruption.
Frequently asked questions
No. It records the charge on the job so it can be invoiced to your customer. Paying TfL stays separate, for example through TfL Auto Pay.
It uses strict matching against your list, so SW10 isn't treated as SW1 and SE11 isn't treated as SE1. The list reflects your billing rules. For confirming whether a specific address sits inside the zone, TfL provides an official postcode checker.
TfL charges once per vehicle per day, however many jobs it attends. How you share that cost across customers is your decision, and we can set the workflow up to match.
The approach works well for other location-based costs, such as access fees, parking or regional surcharges. ULEZ needs additional rules because it depends on each vehicle's emissions standard, not just the site postcode.
Yes. The congestion charge doesn't run round the clock, it applies on different hours on weekdays and weekends, with no charge over the Christmas to New Year period. The workflow checks the job's date and time against those hours as well as the postcode, so the charge is only added when the visit actually falls inside them.

Sensitive site issues, sent straight to the right people
Choose the sites and words that need special attention. When a completed job report or incoming email matches them, Build Concierge alerts the right managers with the details and a link to the job.
When your team can't answer, your Receptionist can
Calls answered, even when your whole team is already on the phone. When every line is busy, or a call rings without an answer, your Concierge Receptionist picks it up, follows the call handling process you choose and sends your team a clear summary. Urgent calls are flagged, so the most important call backs happen first.
Unfinished jobs, flagged before tomorrow
At the end of each working day, Build Concierge sends your team one clear list of scheduled jobs not yet marked complete, so open work is easier to catch before tomorrow.
Missing job card answers, sent back to the engineer
When a job is completed, Build Concierge sends the engineer who attended a follow-up task to fill in any blank job card questions, so your office spends less time chasing.
Engineer notes, turned into a clear job summary
What was done, what was fitted and what is still outstanding, clear in seconds. When a job is completed, Build Concierge reads the engineer's notes and worksheet answers, adds a short, plain-English summary to the job and compares the materials fitted with the job's financial lines, so missing charges are spotted before the invoice goes out.
Website orders in. Invoice-ready jobs out.
When a website order arrives, Build Concierge reads the confirmation email, creates the job in your job management system, adds the financial lines and passes it to accounts, without anyone retyping the order.
